2018 – 2019 Private Voice Studio Policy
Tuition will be billed monthly. Tuition reserves a weekly time slot for your child’s lessons and represents a flat fee, whether you choose to have a class or miss. One lesson is given each week for 22-25 minutes (half of a class period) usually during the student’s choir class. Each student will be given a binder to be used at lessons and in practice at home. The one time fee for your voice lesson binder is $5.
Tuition and fees for the entire month should be paid at the first lesson of the month. Lessons will not be given without payment first. Tuition for lessons is billed on a monthly basis and may be paid by cash or PayPal, to the same address where your bill originates. The instructor reserves the right to suspend or terminate instruction for students who fail to meet their financial obligations.
Please send payment to school in an envelope, with the child’s name, my name, and place the envelope in the turn-in box.
24 Hour Notice Absence Policy:
Students are expected to give 24 hours notice if a lesson will be missed for any reason. When the instructor is given 24 hours notice, the lesson will be rescheduled at another time. In the case of an emergency, contact me ASAP so that I can adjust my schedule accordingly. I do take emergencies into account, but in most cases I require 24 hours notice. In the case of non emergency absences (last minute notification, went out of town and forgot lesson, early dismissal, etc) the lesson will not be made up nor a credit given. It is the student’s/parent’s responsibility to keep the instructor informed of scheduling abnormalities (field trips, testing, rallies, makeup work, etc.) Please help avoid being charged for missed lessons by staying on top of schedule changes.
All students are invited to perform in one recital per semester. 7th/8th graders may participate in All-Region Choir auditions, and students may participate in Solo and Ensemble Contest. Music appropriate to each event will be chosen and assigned with enough time to be well prepared. High School students will participate in the All-State audition process and other auditions, as required by their choir director.
In order to ensure that students are progressing in voice studies, I have provided a practice log inside the binder. There is room to write down how much a student is practicing, and for parents to sign. This is optional, but students who use the practice log have consistently shown improvement in their commitment, preparedness, and their technique.
In the case of a performance or other event where an accompanist will be used, one will be provided. She will charge depending on the event, and the average cost is $20. A commitment to a voice event is a commitment to pay the accompanist.
